Congratulations to our Young Georgia Author System Level Winners. We are very proud of their accomplishments in writing. These have been submitted for judging at First District RESA.

Our District school improvement focus is Literacy. This fundraiser is an excellent, simple and effective tool to meet this goal. MES will host this fundraiser March 4th-13th. Information will be sent home today.

McClelland Elementary School had a very special assembly today. The McIntosh Counter Shouters presented an amazing performance for our students.

MES yearbook are on sale. They are $25 until March 28th. They can be purchased online or at school in the office.

All faculty and staff of the Long County School System will return on Monday, October 7. We are pleased to announce that schools will reopen for students on Tuesday, October 8. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we have diligently worked to safely return to normal operations.

Due to continued widespread power outages across our community, Long County Schools will remain closed for students and staff until further notice. Please continue to monitor our social media platforms for updates. It is our goal to reopen schools as soon as possible. Please share this message with your family, friends, and neighbors who may not have access to social media.

Schools and offices will be closed for all students and staff tomorrow and Friday, September 26-27. All after school activities and athletic events are cancelled for tomorrow and Friday. We hope that our Long County students, staff, and families stay safe as Hurricane Helene enters South Georgia. Schools and offices will resume normal schedules and operations on Monday, September 30.

October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month. McClelland Elementary Students are encouraged to participate in the Cybersecurity Poster Contest. The students may submit a hand drawn or digitally created poster. All posters are due to the School by November 1st.

Important Update from Long County Schools The first day of school for students has been further delayed due to impassable roads, rising river levels. and continued impacts of Tropical Storm Debby. The tentative first day of school for students will be Wednesday, August 14. School and district offices, including central enrollment, will re-open Monday, August 12. All faculty and staff will return to work Monday, August 12. Please continue to monitor school and district social media sites for updates and a revised 2024-2025 school calendar. We are looking forward to the first day of school.
